I do not seem to be able in increase volume for background or voice

Hey Dennis,

for the background audio you should be able to control the volume in the SmartRace settings dialog from the main menu (tab "Sounds"). Unfortunately it is not possible for SmartRace to control the volume of the voice overs, as these are controlled by the operating system.
