Hi,

first toof all, amazing app. Thanks for the great work.

We installed the app on a laptop, but then we decided to move it to a mac mini, because we can connect it to a TV. However, we can transfer the purchase of the world championship among computers. What can we do?

I guess part of the problem is that the app in the mac mini never connects to the add-on servers, and the ring of circles showing work in progress stays on forever.

Thanks again.

Hi there,

there is unfortunately a bug with the in app purchases on older macOS versions. Could you please let me know which version of macOS you're running?

Hi Marc,

Thank you for the response. Interestingly, the version that does not have the problem is the older one. It is a Macbook Air running Catalina (10.15.7).

The one with the problem is a Mac mini, running Big Sur, 11.6.

Cheers,

Hm, thats interesting. Could you please enable the debug mode (settings > misc) on the Big Sur device and try opening the add ons dialogue again then? Please wait for 30 seconds and afterwards please send me a support request from within the app, this will have the debug log attached automatically. Thank you!

It gets more interesting. I tried to do what you said, but when I was sending the request, Smart Race  told me I had no internet connection. But I did ! (I went online with my browser).  So I decided to uninstall Smart Race, and I downloaded a file manager I like better than finder, that allows to do clean uninstalls. I downloaded it from the web, I ran the application, but when I entered the license key, this new app complained it could not negotiate a SSL with the server. That was strange.

So I left it aside, and I tried to open the App Store...to download Smart Race again, and the App Store did not open.

Weird.

So I deactivated the antivirus, and none of the three apps was happy either. But I was able to go online to manage the antivirus.

Then I did a reset of the system, and inverted the order of the apps.

App Store opened ok. I downloaded Smart Race from it.

The file manager let me enter the license key.

Then Smart Race...hang up the connection (see snapshot). After that, the App Store did not work again.

So it seems tht Smart Race is doing something funny with my connectivity. But I can not send you the report, because it does so after trying to connect to the add on server.

Wow, thats indeed strange. I've never heard of that, but it sounds pretty interesting 😀

Would you be willing to check out whether the system logs contain anything about SmartRace when this happens? You'll find details on how to open the logs here: https://www.howtogeek.com/356942/how-to-view-the-system-log-on-a-mac/

That would be very helpful, since I can't reproduce this on any of my macOS devices... :-(

Hey Pato,

I received your support request, thanks. The relevant error message is this one: "Load failed: An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.".

I did a bit of research and it seems more like a general issue with the setup of your mac, but I'm not sure yet. Could you please have a look at this and see if any of this applies to you? https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8387722

Hi Marc,

Thanks a lot. Indeed, I came to the notion that the problem was on my end last night, because I noticed the system hung up at different places within the app. (I did a screen capture movie to show that, but I think it is not needed now). That's why I was able to send you the report. I'll try what you suggest, and if not, perform a clean install. If in trouble, I'll report back.

I'm sorry I blamed the app initially, but I had not noticed anything like this before.

So back to the original question. How does the app know I made the purchase in the other computer?

Cheers and thanks again,

Quick update...it worked. Uninstalled the antivirus and it worked like a charm. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you again for the support and excellent app.
