#18825 Power level controls have no effect with iPad Air

I'm using smart race for ARC Pro on an iPad Air 4th gen. Minimum and maximum power settings have no effect. Voice volume settings have no effect. Power settings not working make non magnet cars very difficult to drive. I will not be using this software until this is fixed. It's a shame because there seems to be a lot of potential here.

I can't reproduce this on my end, I also didn't receive any complaints like this from other users. This should work.

Could you please describe how you're trying to set min and max power?

Menu - Configure - Car CalibrationAdjust minimum and maximum sliders. They have no effect. When I pull the trigger on the contorller all the way for maximum trigger position the car motor runs at exactly the same speed regardless of what this setting is. Minimum power has no effect. Zero and 100% - the car travels at the same speed.

Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question, but just to be sure: are you sure you're changing the sliders for the right controller?

Positively sure.

Okay, understood. Do you receive the success message after you changed the position of the speed slider? Or is there any kind of error?

Also, would you have the chance to record a brief video of the process? Maybe I can spot something that could help tracking this down since I have no clue what is going on at the moment :-(

I will make a video for you and post a link here.

Video is uploading. Sorry - it's 15 minutes long. Max power setting worked this time as did minimum power but there are still problems that you will see in the video. 1. Power delivery at the low end of the throttle is not very progressive. It starts off low with the car moving slowly, then quickly goes higher with no in-between power levels. This makes is very difficult to control cars. 2. Minimum power was working but the difference between the lowest setting of 2% and the next step up of 4% is quite large. I will post a link to the video and you will see what I'm talking about. One difference between today and when I was first using the software is that I had an HDMI dongle connected to my iPad so I could see the screen on my TV. I am working from home today, but will do a test tonight to see if the HDMI output is interfering with power settings.

I have been using the Magic ARC App. Minimum setting on that app is around 25%, and the control occurs on a more gradual curve. A 1% or 2% difference in the minimum or maximum speed settings is very small. With SmarRace you can see that 2% increase is large - especially at low power settings.

Short description of the problem - power is very twitchy/sensitive at low power levels.

Thanks for the effort to put together such a detailed video. Also, say hello to Steve from me. 😺 And I love that VW Jägermeister Bus! 😍

Glad to see that the power level adjustment is working in general.

For the 2% - 4% jump: ARC basically provides 63 power levels which are represented as steps in the slider. If you slide from 2% to 4%, you're basically going from 1 to 2 on a scale of 63 levels. The percentage is just a visual representation of this. For the next version I'll add a configuration option to show the absolute values instead of the percentages to make this more obvious.

I would assume that the jump is due to throttle profiles. I'm not sure if it works like this, but probably the system defaults to some kind of default throttle profile which is not what you're used to from e.g. Magic ARC. Since I'm implementing throttle profiles right now, I'll check this during the process. In the meantime, you could try and see if you see the same speed jump if you switch to a different profile in Magic ARC. Other than that, both apps are using the same values under the hood, since this is what the ARC hardware provides.

Hi Marc, thanks for the detailed reply. I will post a video for you shortly that shows throttle profiles in Magic.
