Race stopped from SR connect device.

SR anuonces a penalty for this driver, but Red flag is not activated, so the cars are able to drive on, but laps are not registrated. It only happends some times and I can not seem to find the logic in when/why it accours.

Did you by any chance modify your Control Unit in any way? The reason I'm asking is that this should normally not be possible. :-) SmartRace only shows the red flag when it detects that the CU is in "cars cant drive mode". Could you tell which of the red LEDs on the CU were lit up when this happened?

Hi Marc

I do have a omnibox clone connected, but thats connected so that it is completly separated from CU´s digital function.

So just tested again  -

Two cars running race

Weather and DRS activated, so a lot of updating speed data is send to the cars. The CU is lighting up like a christmas tree.

One SR connect device connected. -

1. try - Race stopped by SR connect device  - Red dialog box " Driver recived a 10 sec penealty for stopping the race" - Red dialog box - " Red flag"  - Red flag flashing on the top bar. - All LED on CU lights up -All is good

2. try  - Race stopped by SR connect device  -Red dialog box " User recived a 10 sec penealty for stopping the race" Dialog box disapers right a way - top bar still showing green - Cars can drive but laps are not counted - Driver did get a penalty - Only the center LED on CU lights up. - To restart i have to press start on the CU, once for the red flag, and once more for restart.

Im not doing anything different in the two cases, the purpose of my test was to see how quick the cars stopped after the signal was activated from a SR connect device. Therefore i stress tested the system with a lot of altering speed commands.

Hope this is usefull

Just did another test, and if i turn off all functions that sends new speed commands to the cars. (weather - fuel and DRS) the system respons promt and stopps as it sould every time. I suspect that the problem is that some commands are ignored because the CU are very busy sending speed info to the cars, and the more cars and functions that are active the bigger the problem will be.

I think it is easily replicated  - Turn on all speed changing features on - Drive at least two cars around - Look at the CU when the LED´s are running (commands are send) see if you are able to stop the race via SR connect.

Hm, okay, thanks for the update. I see what you mean. This is unfixable unfortunately. Since a firmware update from some years ago, the CU goes into "blocked" mode during processing speed/brake commands. This also means that this is no 7.0 bug but a general issue.

So the time penalty for (trying to) stop the the race does not go thru the CU? And therefore this command is always accepted, no matter how busy the CU are.?

The thing is that SmartRace can't know how busy the CU is and if a command goes through. The CU doesn't report back on this.
